Verbier sits at 1,500 m in the Val de Bagnes, in the canton of Valais, about two hours from Geneva Airport. Whether you come by plane, train or car, the last stretch is the same: the Le Châble gondola or the mountain road up to the village, then a five-minute walk or our free shuttle to the hotel.
Hotel Vanessa is at Chemin des Vernes 1, 50 m from the central square and 350 m from the Médran lifts. Below you will find the best options from each airport, by train and by car, and what to expect once you arrive.

From Geneva Airport
Geneva (GVA) is the closest major airport, 160 km away. By car, follow the A1 motorway towards Lausanne, then the A9 to Martigny and the road to Le Châble and Verbier: around two hours in normal conditions. Car hire is available at the airport; in winter, ask for winter tyres.
By train, take an SBB train from the airport station to Martigny, change to the regional train to Le Châble and ride the gondola up to Verbier. The whole trip takes about two and a half hours, and on winter weekends the Verbier Express runs directly from Geneva Airport to Le Châble. Private transfers and taxis can also be arranged in advance through our reception.
From Zurich, Sion and Milan
Zurich Airport (ZRH) is about three and a half hours away by train, with a change in Visp or Martigny, and roughly the same by car on the A1 and A9 motorways. Sion, the regional airport of Valais used by private and charter flights, is only an hour from Verbier.
Milan Malpensa is a practical option from Italy and for some long-haul connections: count around three hours by car via the Grand-Saint-Bernard tunnel or the Simplon pass, depending on the season.
By train: Martigny, Le Châble and the gondola
Swiss trains are frequent and punctual. From anywhere in Switzerland, travel to Martigny on the main Geneva–Brig line, then take the regional train through the Val de Bagnes to Le Châble, about 30 minutes. Timetables and tickets are on sbb.ch, and a single ticket covers the whole journey including the gondola.
From Le Châble, the gondola takes you to Médran in about ten minutes and leaves you 350 m from the hotel; a PostBus also runs up to the village. Call us when you arrive and our free shuttle will collect you and your luggage at the station.
By car: the road up and where to park
From the A9 motorway, leave at the Martigny exit and follow the signs for the Grand-Saint-Bernard to Sembrancher, then Le Châble and Verbier. The final 8 km climb from Le Châble to the village takes around 20 minutes on a well-maintained but winding road. Between November and April winter tyres are essential and snow chains should be in the car.
At the hotel, a free heated underground garage with an electric-vehicle charging point awaits our guests. Spaces are limited, so please reserve yours when you book. Once parked, you will not need the car again: everything in Verbier is within walking distance or a shuttle ride.
Once in Verbier
The hotel stands on a quiet street 50 m from the central square, where most shops, restaurants and the tourist office are. The Médran lifts, the main gateway to the 4 Vallées, are a five-minute walk away, and our shuttle runs all day to the slopes, the ski schools, the sports centre and anywhere else in Verbier you need to be.
Check-in is from 16:00 and check-out until 11:00; if you arrive earlier we will store your luggage and your skis so you can head straight to the mountain. The ski room with individual lockers and boot dryers is open to every guest.
